Amy Stein - Domesticated (2008)
Artist’s statement:
“Within these scenes I explore our paradoxical relationship with the wild and how our conflicting impulses continue to evolve and alter the behavior of both humans and animals. We at once seek connection with the mystery and freedom of the natural world, yet we continually strive to tame the wild around us and compulsively control the wild within our own nature. Within my work I examine the primal issues of comfort and fear, dependence and determination, submission and dominance that play out in the physical and psychological encounters between man and the natural world. Increasingly, these encounters take place within the artificial ecotones we have constructed that act as both passage and barrier between domestic space and the wild.”

This episode was stupid.
A waste of ideas poorly executed .It’s been like this since Moffat took over as showrunner though… He has lots of interesting ideas and instead of focusing on one, he jams them all together into each episode and it becomes a hot mess.
I wanted to punch him during this scene though because The Doctor’s Wife was my favorite episode ever…I’m still no fan of Clara (ShoeHorn) Oswarld . She’s no different from any another companion. She’s less. I’d say she’s useless. Not very interesting. Nothing very appealing besides her ‘cuteness’. Plus her personality seems all over the place.
I’d get rid of her.
She hasn’t earned the right to be in a big story involving the Doctor’s life. Or any of his past lives. She still hasn’t proved her self as worthy of anything actually.
This rather ‘special’ story should not have involved her. More or less. Clara is a cheap Rose knock off.
Moffat is just writing his own boy hood fan fiction.I actually like Clara. I find that the writing of Amy was a hot mess (as much as I love her) as her personality was so inconsistent. Plus I HATED Rose. She was so whiny, annoying and overly needy/clingy and was a huge ass to Mickey.
I think the point of Clara is to show she’s just a normal person who is willing to give up her life to save her friend even though she doesn’t entirely trust him whereas the other companions trusted and in a way, worshiped him.
I hold Rose higher than Clara. Then again I hold Donna higher than both. (Loved Donna)
I think Clara is too fake, to safe, to much of an unchallenging character. That she’s almost insulting. And she DID worship him. Nothing is really appealing about her as a character. She was made for one purpose, and it was a crap purpose. She hasn’t brought anything new to doctor who.
She can’t represent a ‘normal’ person. Apparently she is a babysitter or what ever. Yet, we don’t get to know shit about that life of her’s.
At least with Rose we saw she was normal. Had a job, a boyfriend, and it was all normal. Until the doctor showed her more.
Clara is such a Tv show, female, cliché.
